Terms & Conditions
1. Sponsor
The REIC NEXT Student Contest 2026 (the “Contest”) is sponsored by the Real Estate Institute of Canada (REIC) (the
“Sponsor”).
2. Eligibility
The Contest is open to individuals who, at the time of entry:
Are legal residents of Canada, excluding residents of the Province of Quebec
Are 18 years of age or older
Meet the definition of a Student as set out in Section 3
Employees, officers, directors, contractors, and immediate family members of the Sponsor are not eligible to
participate.
This Contest is void where prohibited by law.
3. Definition of “Student”
For the purposes of this Contest, a “Student” is an individual who is:
Currently enrolled, on a full‑time or part‑time basis, in a recognized Canadian post‑secondary educational
institution, including but not limited to:
Universities
Colleges
Polytechnics
Provincial real estate regulator
Accredited real estate, real estate finance, or real estate investment‑related programs
Enrollment must be valid during the Contest submission window, and proof of enrollment may be requested at the
Sponsor’s discretion.
4. Contest Submission Window
The Contest submission window opens on May 1, 2026 and closes on May 31, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. EDT (the
“Submission Window”). Entries submitted before or after the Submission Window will not be accepted.
5. How to Enter: Submission Requirements
No purchase is necessary to enter.
To participate, eligible contestants must:
Complete the official Contest application form provided by the Sponsor.
Contest entries must be submitted as a video file.
Video files must meet all of the following requirements:
File format: MP4 only
Length: Minimum 30 seconds and maximum 90 seconds
File naming convention: FirstName-LastName-topic
Videos must be uploaded using the official OneDrive “Request Files” submission link provided by the Sponsor.
Entries submitted by any other method will not be accepted.
Videos that exceed or fall short of the required duration, are submitted in a different file format, or are corrupted or
unreadable may be disqualified.
Each contestant may submit one (1) video entry, on only one of the topics.
The Sponsor reserves the right to disqualify any submission that does not meet the technical or content
requirements outlined in these Terms and Conditions or in official Contest materials.

6. Content Standards and Restrictions
All submissions must comply with the following content standards.
Permitted Content
Submissions must be original work created by the contestant
Content must be relevant to the selected pitch theme and appropriate for a professional and educational audience
Prohibited Content
Offensive, obscene, or inappropriate material, including:
Hate speech or discriminatory language
Sexually explicit, violent, or graphic content
Harassment, threats, or defamatory statements
Illegal, unsafe, or unethical activity
False, misleading, or unsubstantiated claims
Content that infringes upon third‑party intellectual property rights
Commercial promotion unrelated to the Contest
Artificial Intelligence (AI) Use
Contest entries must not be fully generated or materially produced using artificial intelligence, including
AI‑generated video, avatars, or synthetic voices
Limited AI use for minor assistance (e.g., spelling or script drafting support) is permitted, provided the final video
performance, narration, and presentation are created and delivered by the contestant
The Sponsor reserves the right to request clarification regarding AI use and to disqualify entries that, in its sole
discretion, rely excessively on AI‑generated content
The Sponsor’s determination of content compliance is final and binding.
7. Contest Structure
The Contest may include multiple pitch themes, as determined by the Sponsor
A total of four (4) finalists will be selected; one (1) per theme
From all finalists, one (1) overall winner will be selected
8. Judging and Selection
Entries will be evaluated by a panel of judges selected by the Sponsor.
Judging criteria may include, but are not limited to:
Relevance to the pitch theme
Creativity and originality
Strength of insights and analysis
Clarity and quality of presentation
Judges will review submissions through secure, view‑only access to the submission folder. All decisions are final.

9. Prizes and Participation Benefit
Finalist and Winner Prizes
We will announce via email and social media channels one (1) finalist per category, four (4) in total, and an one (1)
overall winner.
Prizes:
$1000 will be awarded to the overall winner
Four (4) prizes of $500 each will be awarded to each category finalist
Must be accepted as awarded
Are non‑transferable
The Sponsor reserves the right to substitute a prize of equal or greater value if necessary.
Each selected finalist will receive an REIC NEXT 2026 Finalist digital badge, which may be shared across social media
and professional networking platforms. The selected overall winner will receive an REIC NEXT 2026 Winner digital
badge for similar promotional and professional use.
Student Membership Benefit
Each eligible contestant who submits a valid entry will receive:
One (1) free one‑year REIC Student Membership and REIC NEXT 2026 Participant digital badge
Approximate retail value: $50 CAD
The membership and digital badging:
Are non‑transferable
Have no cash value
May not be substituted or exchanged
Membership may be renewed the following year, at the current year’s fee, to be paid by the Student
Are subject to REIC’s standard terms and conditions, and ethical standards
10. Intellectual Property and Usage Rights
By entering the Contest, contestants confirm that their submission is original and does not infringe on the rights of any
third party.
Contestants grant REIC a royalty‑free, worldwide, perpetual license to use, reproduce, edit, publish, and distribute
their submission for promotional, educational, and marketing purposes related to REIC and REIC NEXT.
11. Privacy
Personal information collected will be used solely for:
Contest administration
Eligibility verification
Judging and winner notification
Issuance of Student Memberships and digital badging
Video submissions uploaded via OneDrive are private. Contestants cannot view other submissions.
Information will be handled in accordance with applicable Canadian privacy laws.

12. Disqualification
The Sponsor reserves the right to disqualify any entrant who:
Does not meet eligibility requirements
Submits incomplete, late, or non‑compliant entries
Violates the Contest’s content standards
Submits a video that does not meet format or duration requirements
Attempts to disrupt or manipulate the Contest or judging process
Submits a video that incorporates or relies upon artificial intelligence tools in violation of the Contest’s AI usage
policy
13. Limitation of Liability
By participating in the Contest, entrants agree to release and hold harmless the Sponsor from any liability arising from
participation in the Contest, acceptance or use of any prize or membership benefit, or any technical issues of any kind.
Without limiting the foregoing, the Sponsor is not responsible for:
Technical difficulties, malfunctions, or failures related to submission platforms
Incomplete, late, lost, corrupted, or inaccessible video files
Any inability to upload, access, view, or judge a video submission due to technical errors
All submissions are entered at the contestant’s own risk, and the Sponsor’s decisions regarding eligibility, technical
compliance, and judging are final and binding.
14. General Conditions
The Sponsor reserves the right to cancel, suspend, or modify the Contest at any time due to technical issues, fraud, or
circumstances beyond its reasonable control.
This Contest is subject to all applicable federal, provincial, and municipal laws.
